Before becoming an attorney, Erica began her legal career working as a paralegal at Amabile & Burkly, P.C. assisting in both plaintiff and defense civil litigation cases as well as estate planning and administration, divorce, child custody and real estate transactions. While working full time for Amabile & Burkly, Erica pursued her law degree as an evening student at Suffolk Law School and graduated in 2006.
In 2008, Attorney Jacobsen rejoined Amabile & Burkly. She primarily practices in the areas of civil litigation and probate & family law.
Attorney Jacobsen’s civil litigation practice includes personal injury, employment discrimination and contract disputes. She has assisted clients with drafting their estate documents (i.e. trust, will, durable power of attorney, health care proxy, and living will) as well as estate administration and will contests. Attorney Jacobsen also assists clients with divorce, legal separation, alimony, paternity actions, custody, child support, contempt/enforcement actions and modification actions.
She has represented individuals and corporations alike both plaintiffs and defendants in District Court, Superior Court, Probate Court and Federal Court. She has also advocated for clients before administrative agencies such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and local boards and agencies (ZBA, Planning Board, Board of Selectmen).
